**Position Purpose:**

The Safety Managers primary responsibility is to oversee safe work practices, safe work environment, and governmental and company compliance functions for the branches of a multi-site equipment and machinery rental company. In this role the Safety Manager will conduct prevention activities such as audits, training and create safety policies consistent with the Companys Safety First culture.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:**

* Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures

* Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines "

* Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training

* Inspect equipment and workplace environment for unsafe workplace conditions, code compliance and are in safe operating condition

* Conducts onsite branch audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and that site locations are compliant with company policy

* Ensures that branch and department leaders are accountable for Safety

* Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents

* Acts as the liaison with the claims carriers and adjusters and collaborates with Human Resources to ensure claims are managed effectively Works to ensure employees return to work safely and in a timely manner.

* Generates claims, accident, and injury reports for leadership

* Collaborates with Facilities management and local authorities to ensure that buildings meet OSHA and building code standards.

* Establishes accident and injury procedures and ensures they are clearly communicated to employees and managers. Ensures all employees are trained on proper procedures.

* Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues

* Implements Safety programs and best practices and ensures that all levels of leadership are active participants " Other projects and duties as assigned

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**Basic Knowledge & Competencies**

* Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to conduct training.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Strong leadership skills.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

**Previous Experience & Education**

* Bachelors degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required or equivalent experience of at least 3 years managing safety functions in a company environment.

* At least two years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment preferred

**Physical Requirements**

* Able to travel at least 50% of the time

* Able to work outdoors in extreme climate conditions

* Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

* Able to walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, twist on a frequent basis
